Almost November!

Whoa, what a week it has been.

What a month it has been.

I can't believe that October is soon to be behind us...my favorite time of year is quickly slipping away!

We had a crazy and fun week with a houseful of family and friends. Markus' oldest sister and her family of 6 made a last-minute trip up to the island on Wednesday, and it was
so much fun to have them here. (Emma and Levi especially loved having their cousins sleep over!) Our co-worker Egil was also staying with us this week, and he and Markus put in long hours both at the office and here at home building and painting a wall in our living room. (It looks amazing!)

But the house has emptied out again...even Markus is gone for a few days of meetings.

It is so quiet.

And so clean!

For the first time in a month, the living room is back in order and all the tools and paint buckets are hidden in the laundry room. (I try not to open that door very often...it's pretty scary in there...)

The kids and I stayed home from our Sunday morning Bible study
today. I've had a cold for several weeks now. It started in my head and slowly moved down into my chest and then I thought it was almost all gone a few days ago, but yesterday morning I woke up with a pounding headache and sore throat. And today it's even worse. So we are laying low today. The kids are drawing and coloring next to me on the couch, and it is stormy and cold outside. (If you're going to feel miserable, this is the perfect kind of weather for it!)

Here are some pictures from the last week...

Our pumpkins. Just so you know, we didn't have any permanent markers on hand so the kids drew on them with regular markers. Unfortunately their beautiful artwork rubbed off after just a few minutes before I could take pictures. :-(

Emma and her cousins...twirling princesses!

My mom sent these fun sprinkles a few weeks ago.
Anne and I made cookies and brightly colored orange frosting, and we had a cookie decorating party with all our nephews and nieces.

Carefully decorating...

It's a cookie masterpiece!

Sweet little slippers made by my mother-in-law.

Thursday night we all gathered for a hot dog/marshmallow roast in the garden.
It was a beautiful, chilly fall evening and I think everyone had fun.

Janneke and I played games with the kids in the farmer's field.Sooooo much fun!!!!
(And yes, that is me running like a gazelle towards the camera...I wasn't able to talk any of the kids into running up to the house to find the soccer ball, so I got stuck doing it.)

A nice shot by my bro-in-law James.
Today's weather actually reminds me a little of the intense happenings of a stormy Sunday morning exactly a year ago to this day...

I'll be back in a day or two to tell you about a strange haircutting incident that took place in our house in the middle of the night this past week.

(Just imagine waking up and finding locks of blond hair all over your living room.)

Yeah. It was weird.

Ugh, hope you start to feel better. :/ I'm pretty much over my cold, thankfully. Those cookies look like fun! Glad you've been having such a good time. I can't believe how fast this entire year has gone by, let alone October!

Sorry you're sick, praying you're better soon. And love your blog and your photos! Epic, as Kevin would say. Love you guys. Miss you.
