After 3 years of contemplating whether or not I should drastically change my hair by getting bangs, I finally did it last night!
I called my sister-in-law Anne for moral support just before the stylist made the big chop. ("Just do it!" was Anne's encouraging response. "And if you hate it, it will grow back out.")
I almost did it in the Philippines (but then I chickened out big-time and completely confused the guy cutting my hair so I ended up with very strange sideburn-looking things) and I tried to do it last fall - at my annual haircut (yeah, I am one of those people who are so cheap that they cut their hair once a year) I asked the stylist for bangs. But she was a little hesitant when she heard how little time I was willing to spend fixing my hair each day...she encouraged me to start first with side bangs and if I really liked them and felt like they weren't too much work, then I could come back and get full-on bangs.
So I took her advice and just got the side bangs, which was fine but of course I never went back to her for the real bangs...too cheap, remember? :-)
I went to the same place (annual haircut time has rolled around again!), but I had a different stylist this time.
Again I mentioned bangs and she immediately got excited and told me that I HAD to do it because from the minute she saw me, she thought my face needed bangs. I was a little caught off-guard because I wasn't expecting such a positive response, so then I started back-pedaling a little and saying that I should maybe just get it trimmed and forget the whole bangs idea. So I called Anne (who I have discussed this with in great lengths), and with her encouragement, I squeezed my eyes shut and told the stylist to cut away.
Anyway, for those of you who are still following my very shallow ramblings, here I am with bangs...I still don't recognize myself in the mirror, but I think it's safe to say (24 hours later) that I like it!

I LOOOOOOOOVE it!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! You and Joanna are both SO cute with bangs!!!! I wonder if Lyd and I should follow suit or stay the way we are..... hmm....
I loooove it love love love love it!!!
I know! When I saw how cute Jo was with them, I thought that since we look almost exactly alike, surely it would look halfway decent on me. Also I figured that they've been "cool" for a few years now and will prob soon be going out of style, so this fall might be my last chance to be somewhat stylish...haha.
Sarah, dette kledde du! Du vart veldig lik Joanna, ja :) Og andre som eg kanskje ikkje akkurat veit kven... litt lik deg sjølv også hehe... Stilig! Du er tøff :D Godt å ha litt støtte frå ei god svigerinne når det står på som verst hehe
I really like the bangs!
if E & L do bangs too, you will all look alike!
smile.

Awesome! I am so glad you took this courages step! (hehe, I guess it is funny to tell somebody who has lived in places with all kinds of challenges like creeping things and crime and stuff, that cutting of a bit of their hair is courages but I know that you know what I mean :-) (our men will make fun of how long your post and my comment is...:-)). Oh, yeah and also, if you want to adjust the sides, I herewith (is that a word?) volunteer to take the kids :-), next week maybe?
